Sadly, many people don't treasure their pets. I suppose sometimes they don't see them as equals, or they see them simply as possessions that can be removed or discarded at any point in time that they get bored of them. They think they are cute because they are fuzzy, scuttle around, eat and sleep in cute ways (not disregarding pet lizards and stuff but these are more uncommon in Singapore I think)... unfortunately they become like tiny movies that the people watch each day, or some days, or sometimes once every two weeks... They watch that cute little figure moving about for a while, and then they turn to their work and forget about about it. Caged up, bored and lonely, the little figure starts to rattle the bars. This gets annoying. They strew their food and water about the cage, hoping for some attention. The rattling, like an innocent person imprisoned without being told the reason, escalates and echoes through the night, into the morning... The animal becomes a bother, a frustration, an additional financial burden. Worst of all, the animal becomes labelled as "Bad". Bad dog! He won't listen. He keeps me up all night. I can't get anything done the next morning. Bad dog! He messes up his cage. I don't have time to clean it every day, it's too much of a trouble, a bother. Bad dog! I can't control him. He's violent, noisy... he's wild.
Bad dog just wants to walk a longer road. Bad dog just wants to run and jump and play like all animals do. Bad dog just wants you to remember him, and remember that he needs you.
Bad dog is never really Bad. Bad dog is just scared dog. Hurt dog. Never knew happiness dog. The same thing happens to humans when they grow up in an environment of abuse and hate, pain and tragedy. They don't know any good things and their minds can really be manipulated only to know evil. However, rehabilitation can help them. Time and patience, and a loving hand can give them the life they ought to know. This is the same, humans, animals, regardless.
This is my Labit, Bunbun, born out of a drop of ink that fell from the sky.
This is just a string of thoughts, and a hope that the message can be spread to always love your pets, and also, think carefully of the commitment you have to put in before getting one. C:
