The Fundraise

Really happy to finally see my shirt design on a physical shirt! The puppy looks so adorable in huge print hahaha... wish i'd made the heart red though cuz the pink looks beige instead.

Anyway the back of the shirt says "Don't shop, please adopt!" which is a slogan I thought of for the campaign.

Also in the mix are 3 badges with chibi animals that i drew. In bunny, cat and puppy (not pictured cuz im lazy to photograph it separately.)

Well it seems like they've gone and done it again. Those people whom I have no idea what is going on in their minds, have.

HUNDREDS OF SPECIES LOST. HABITATS DESTROYED. HUMAN LIVES AFFECTED.


You see, the Brazilian government has given the go ahead to build what is going to be the world's third largest dam, Belo Monte, and in the process, destroying thousands and thousands of wildlife, habitats and even human lifestyles. Yes, even though humans are involved they really don't seem to give two hoots. You thought those kind of people only couldn't give a dam about wildlife, but apparently it doesn't matter even if its their own kind either.

Imagine it. The tribes. Their whole world must have collapsed on them in one moment after receiving that news. Their whole lives would be gone. Their homes, their culture, their history... everything imprinted on those lands will be flooded through and destroyed... Those heartless people sitting in their clean, white, concrete offices with velvet sofas and glass tables couldn't understand two inches of the pain the tribes are going through. They just sit there behind those walls and pretend like that's the only choice they have. What with sustainable energy supply for future generations. People are losing their homes here already what hoot do you think they give about electricity?? What with environmental surveys and shyt. It's just for show. If they really cared, they wouldn't need a survey to tell them what's the value of the entire forest, what's the damage that would arise from their selfish decisions. They would be able to see it. That vast expanse of everything wonderful and beautiful. In fact, the license for building the dam was granted by an environmental agency itself. Okay, I get it. Sometimes politics and stuff make things complicated and you can't always have it your way even if you care a lot about the Earth. But this is an AMBITION verses PEOPLE'S LIVES! Is it so difficult to choose? If the dam has been planned since 1975 and hasn't been built till now and Brazil is STILL recognised as a rising economy, why do they still need this installment?? A survey isn't going to show you that if you can't already see something right in front of your eyes.

Sure I ain't no tribal person but humans feel for other humans. Right?

They've tried to redesign and redesign the dam over and over again over the years but clearly it doesn't work. Even if you are just building a dam in one small area, the effect carries over the entire forest. Just because you can't see CO2, doesn't mean CO2 levels aren't rising. It's the same problem. There is still so much controversy and fighting and sadness and anger because people think they need so much energy like as if they don't produce enough ATP everyday to sustain their exploitative habits already.

Dam removal helps restore wildlife. This has been done in Columbia, and the re-influx of nutrients and opening of migratory paths allowed salmon runs to rise again when they were close to being terminated forever. Salmon is the livelihood, culture and history of both natives and locals living in that area and losing it would mean losing their identity forever. We cannot try to change the Earth by breeding salmon and putting them back in the rivers, but we can change it by reversing the damage done. By removing the dams that blocked salmon migration pathways for miles, the recovery was quicker than anything humans could have done with their own hands.

Now we are planning for destruction again. In this case, turning back time would not even be possible for some endemic species which would be lost forever.

A Streak of Luck

okay, so finally i have some purple in my hair! La riche in lilac had some effect after the second application. Still have like 2/3s of the bottle. So tempted to do this full on.

The Taiwan Chicken

I am missing this Alishan Chicken sooo much!! Looks crazy good right. Well, it is!!! Best chicken I've ever had in my whole life regardless of how tiny it is. Yes each wing is actually really tiny. Omg. Maybe it wasn't a chicken. Maybe it was a sparrow??

Just Kidding. But I am missing Taiwan...

The Hotcakes

Today Ben and I tried making hotcakes! We got hotcake mix from daiso and milk and eggs from ntuc. We didnt have a mixer so our mix was rather lumpy at the start, but a few minutes beside the pan and it was all smooth XD

Anyway I decided hotcakes arent that easy to make ><" I wanted to make baby hotcakes by just putting drops of the mix but it was so hard to get them round =.= I guess normally people have a mould or something. Anyway! Pic of baby hotcakes complete with butter and maple syrup ^^ They are about 1cm across or less. To get a sense of it, the tab they're sitting on is the seal of the milk carton lol

The Daisoles

I bought soles from Daiso the other day and they are awesome. Look at them! Ain't they just the cutest things? And they fit beautifully too, after following the measurements provided and cutting them to size. they did exactly what I wanted them to, which is make my shoes half a size smaller so they'd be a better fit. No one's gonna see them but myself, yes, but that doesn't mean cute things must have a large audience to qualify as being worthy of existence! They simply need a single person to appreciate them. It makes that person happy and all's good. No? Ok, shan't get too philosophical here.
